Living Life in the Zone

Living Life in the Zone  is a 40 Day Spiritual Game Plan for Men written by Kyle Rote Jr. and Dr. Joe Pettigrew.

The book is divided into 40 days and each week focuses in an area to help you grow and focus: Your relationship with God, your relationship with your wife, your relationship with your kids, your relationships with friends, your relationships at work, and focusing on your future.

Each day is broken into five sections.

  1. The Coaches Corner – This sets up the thought and introduces a tension in our life.
  2. The Game Plan – Scriptures are quoted that speak to this tension.
  3. Playmakers – Sports figures share their story about how they deal with this issue.
  4. Time Out – Questions for meditation
  5. Today’s Assignment – This is a challenge to help you apply the thought of the day.

I liked the breakdown and how it flowed together. I enjoyed hearing sports figures share their faith and belief in Christ is inspiring. It has some great devotional thoughts, stories, and illustrations. I am not a devotional book guy to be honest, but I am a sports guy. By it focusing on sports I was engaged and looked forward to the each day. This book targets men who are married and have children. It is not something you would want to get a teen or a single guy. This would make a good gift for any guy who loves sports and would like something to help him center his thoughts and life on God.
