Slime Recipe – Critical to Every Youth Ministry

I am sure you are like me and you have needed slime for some event. We have experimented with various recipes and this is the one that worked the best for us.

For 3-4  gallons of slime:

8 large pkgs of Jello
10lbs of flour
1 bottle of baby shampoo
1/2 large bottle of green food coloring
1 gallon of water

I mixed this in 5 gallon buckets with a paint mixer attachment on my drill (a little tool time).

Mix the Jello powder and half a bag of flour and about 1 gallon of water. Mix well until most of the lumps are out. Add flour in 1/2 bag increments. You want to slowly add water to the remaining flour mixture in order to keep slime from being lumpy. You will need to add the bottle of baby shampoo and as much water as needed until the slime is the consistency you desire. Once the slime reaches the consistency you desire add food coloring until slime is the perfect shade of green. If you want red slime you can use cherry jello and no need for food coloring.

hen all is said and done this will cost about $3.50 a gallon.

How long can this slime be stored?

  2. Student Minister says :

Jenn, I never stored it longer than 48 hours. We mixed this up in 5 and 10 gallon buckets. We left them uncovered at room temp. When we were ready to use it we stirred it again and used baby shampoo to help thin as needed.

Thank you! We are planning on making it tomorrow night and using it Sunday morning! We have 5 gallon buckets to make it in and storing it at room temp. Thanks for posting this recipe!

I am testing out slime recipes for church camp next week and I was wondering if you had any trouble getting this particular receipe out of hair? I have long hair myself and have that only concern.

Going to try this recipe tonight… Will we be able to use right after mixing?

We tried this recipe, but the problem was the clean up. Would not come out of hair or clothes. Beware! Sad to say many had to cut or shave there heads
