Make War Part 4
Make War 4 – Turning it Over to God
Text: 2 Chronicles 20:1-12
Jehoshaphat is the King of Israel and he realizes that he is surrounded by 3 armies. There is nothing that he can do. His army is not strong enough to defeat the approaching armies. So Jehoshaphat gets on his knees and asks God to deliver them. In verse 12 he says, “O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help. (2Ch 20:12 NLT)”
There are times that we will face a sin so great that we realize we are powerless to defeat it. We have found people to help hold our hands through the battle, we have reflected and understand our weaknesses, but nothing has worked. The great news is that we don’t have to do battle alone. The bad news is that we will have to give up our control, pride, and will and tell God that we are totally powerless. For many of us this is hard to do. We don’t like to admit failure, we don’t like to admit our weaknesses, so we try harder only to end back in defeat. Usually we have to come to the end of our rope, and all options have to fail before we humble ourselves before God and admit I can’t do this you need to.
This is the great thing. After Jehoshaphat admits his total reliance and need for God to save him, God does!
